When you are writing to promote your products or affiliate products (article marketing), it is easy to get caught in the cycle of just mindlessly producing more and more content. But why not repurpose the content you have already written to make even more money online?
What do I mean? Well, let’s say that you have written 60 articles on weight loss and submitted them to the article directories. Perhaps you make around $20 an article, which comes out to $1200 or so. Why stop there? You can take those same articles and create a free report and an ebook. Use the free report to gather leads and then sell the complete ebook on the backend.
Do not forget about posting your content on your own blog and website also. If you have hundreds of posts in a particular niche, gather all your best posts into an ebook and offer them to your visitors. Many times, it is much easier for people to just buy the ebook (info all in one place) rather than searching through the entire site to find what they need.
Here’s another idea many online marketers do not often consider. Take your electronic product (ebook) and produce a print version at one of the print-on-demand services like Lulu.com.
Also, Amazon has a great new program that works in conjunction with their ebook reader - Kindle. It is free to format and offer your product through their online program. If you have lots of great content, people will definitely buy it.
These are only a few ways that you can repurpose your articles to make more money. There are many more ways to re-use content. A couple more ideas that may work well for you are webinars and teleconferences. You could even hold a full fledged conference in some niches.
The bottom line is that when you are writing for a living, sometimes you have to be creative in order to increase your income potential.

So you log in to your affiliate control and FINALLY, you are starting to see your article marketing efforts pay off. You are excited and start thinking that you can afford to splurge a little. But hold on a minute! If you want your business to grow, then you would be better served to reinvest those article profits. Delaying your graitification for just a little while will ensure that you achieve what you REALLY want - that full time income with part time effort.
For example, if you make $950 from your article marketing efforts one month, it is very tempting to get overly excited and blow it all. However, you should be reinvesting this profit to grow your business. Instead of writing all the articles yourself, outsource and get someone else to help you write your articles. To start, you should probably stick with getting your articles written for around $5 each from somewhere such as Elance or one of the forums - I suggest the Warrior Forum.
You should invest around $700 or so outsourcing. With the other $250, you can pay or bill or splurge on something you have been wanting. In the meantime, continue writing articles yourself also. In this way, you are building your inventory of articles, and thus, your profits as well. If you work diligently, you should be able to free yourself from writing too many articles by outsourcing and focus your efforts elsewhere to continuosly build your business.
Next time, we will focus on re-purposing your content. After all, you have all those articles already written, why not make as much money as possible from them?
There has been much discussion on may forums about the effectiveness of article marketing - whether it is profitable or not. I would have to say that it depends on a number of factors.
First, if you suck at writing, then no amount of submitting articles to directories will be helpful for your business. By all means, hire someone to write your articles if you cannot accomplish the task yourself. There is a great service at InfoatDemand.com that will provide you with high quality articles. However, if you are a decent writer, writing more will only improve your skills and you should see a corresponding improvement in your online profits.
Writing and submitting articles is a great way to get traffic and backlinks to your website. You must remember to maintain that healthy balance, though. You do not want to give away ALL the details in your articles, because then your potential customers have no reason to visit your site - you hae answered all their questions. Give the main idea, but leave some things unanswered.
Another thing that many article marketers do not pay enough attention to is their resource box. Make it enticing and use an appropriate landing page. There are differing opinions on this, but I would say that even if you are marketing affiliate products, build a list.
You can accomplish this by giving away a free report or autoresponder course and requiring your prospects to subscribe when they reach your landing, or ’squeeze’ page. This way, you can follow up with your prospects later. For example, someone who is interested in a natural cure for toenail fungus is likely interested in natural cures for other ailments as well. Health and exercise are HUGE niches that always seem to have a hungry audience.
And next, when you are finally making some money from article marketing, REINVEST it in your business so that it grows. We will talk a bit more about this in the next post.
